I'm Davis, a security engineer in San Francisco finishing my degree at SF State while working in the field. My focus is access: who gets into a system, and what they can do once they're there. Four years in IT operations, most recently at Okta. Next is detection and response, where the same question gets asked after the fact.

1. IT Support Engineer Intern · Okta

   May 2026 — Aug 2026
   • Designed the Desk Check tool: quarterly desk audits had technicians logging findings in a spreadsheet, then re-entering each one into ServiceNow. It captures a finding once and emits a ServiceNow-ready ticket, cutting per-finding admin from ~4 minutes to under 1 — a projected several hundred hours a year across NAMER offices, scoped as phase one of a tiered automation roadmap
   • Processed application-access security exceptions end to end — business justification, approval validation, and documenting the conditions that keep them within Okta security policy and least privilege
   • Built through Okta for Good: a volunteer prosthetic-arm build alongside the summer's engineering work
   • Ran a knowledge base redirect project through Okta's enterprise shift: a large body of application documentation had gone stale, so outdated articles were mapped and redirected to current ones, giving application owners a single accurate answer instead of several contradictory ones
   • Used AI-assisted tooling to analyse logs and error patterns on authentication and SSO incidents, and supported agentic escalation by reproducing issues and packaging findings for senior engineers
   • Managed macOS fleet enrolment, configuration and policy enforcement through JAMF, with ticketing through Jira Service Management

   A reading and maths app I built for my eight-year-old brother. He reads a sentence out loud, the browser grades it word by word, and the whole family sees how it went. A silika is the Luhya communal work party — the neighbours who turn out to finish one family's work before moving to the next.
